The museum is free to all-comers and showcases pieces from Slim's extensive collection of European and Mexican art, including pieces by major international artists whose work is not easy to find in Latin America. And worst of all, they might make some "ordinary people" feel inferior about enjoying art in a non-world class setting.

Privilege celebrates privilege. Many American Blacks have been here long enough to be in DAR, but cannot travel freely in America. It is why “Women artists” are “finally getting their due.” It is why academia requires only academically trained artists succeed. I assure you race and class will be at the top of that list.

At Preservation Hall , catch nightly acoustic concerts celebrating the city's musical legacy with some of its finest performers. The Audubon Zoo. More to see & do: The Garden District.

Recent reports have alluded to class and race divisions between MySpace and Facebook users. In fact, I think MySpace is probably the best online representative of our society in terms of race and class that exists on the Web today, but it is incorrect to assume that MySpace is only a community of poor people. Apples and oranges.

You do not need to be an “artist” to make a postcard, but each participant is surprised and delighted by their creativity and to see that their cards contain colors, words and images that reflect their strongest selves. Yet, I wanted to be that artist and still do. We must raise $1,000 to keep our classes going for another year.
