The European Union (EU) is the largest economy in the world and home to over 500 million people who discard vast numbers of electronic devices each year. The statistics are similar for mobile phones, except that phones are discarded even more quickly than PCs. Million Ton Problem. In 2012, EU countries discarded 10.9 and Canada.
