Matthew Bishop of the Economist Magazine made some interesting points. Her inspiration for this work included Gandhi, who of course was all about self-reliance!

Erickson founded FORGE (Facilitating Opportunities for Refugee Growth and Empowerment) in 2003 when she was a 20 year-old junior studying public policy at Stanford University. FORGE serves 60,000 refugees in three different refugee camps in Southern Africa, and is an official operating partner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR ).

For example, some of our women in Africa and India are interested in taking the ideas and the best practices that came out of this training into their regions. We have a woman in Africa who is helping to convene women for the World Social Forum. We have a woman who is designing educational programs for young women in Brooklyn.

Seane has been featured in commercials and has appeared on the cover of Yoga Journal , Fit Yoga , and many other magazines. We'll be working in a series of orphanages with HIV/AIDS street children, as well working with YouthAIDS to learn more about the HIV/AIDS crisis in Uganda, and in Africa in general.
