Third, we pioneered a novel interpretation of the copyright exception for serving people with disabilities that is built into the basic law of the United States. Bookshare is terrific, but it’s fundamentally a separate system where a specialized library becomes the primary source of books for its patrons.

This time I had three agenda items for my conversations with congressional staff: Advocating for funding for special education. I had a joint meeting (both Republicans and Democrats) with the key Senate Judiciary Committee staff who are the copyright experts, and learned a lot about the process. Student privacy. Enough said!
