She announced on her blog, " I use Twitter to fight Cancer " and without any formal blogger relations campaign, well-known and influential bloggers blogged about her situation and changed their avatars to include peas.

Your supporters also want to see what your staff and working space look like – the human beings behind the avatar, if you will. That said, I often joke to friends that when I retire from online activism/communications I am going to open a print book and stationary store that serves martinis, plays Pandora, and offers free handwriting classes.
