The first one was started in 1991 by a San Francisco educator, Dan Sudran, in his garage. There are lots of great science museum resources, but not where these kids can walk after school. We received two rounds of NSF funding in the 1990s to expand. I came on in 2010 to start the statewide nonprofit network.
