The latest Index data covers the 3 months ending April 2011 as compared to the same period in 2010.

The report includes 24 months of online giving data from 1,895 nonprofit organizations, online major giving data from 2,397 nonprofits, and both online and offline data representing $5.1 billion in total fundraising from 1,560 nonprofits. compared to the same time period in 2010. Large organizations grew by 8.6%

A year later, in 2010, it was even bigger. Instead of fundraising separately, activating communities separately, connecting with legislators separately, the organizations recognized a unique opportunity they had to come together. What about a fundraising tool? Have people heard of 350.org org before? 1Sky and 350 merged.

The SXSW Interactive Festival (scheduled March 12-16, 2010 in Austin, Texas) is a mega huge social media industry event. Last year, there was an event called "Social Media for Social Good" organized by Jeff Pulver that prompted quite a rich discussion on whether social media for fundraising and marketing can effect real on the ground change.
