We've been helping groups for many years with ways to have a little more influence and get a little more impact out of their online and offline events. Capture presentations made during the event with live embedded audio and share them on a tool like Slideshare after the event. Blog about the event before, during, and after.

They were able to use the platform for organizing offline events, finding and collaborating with volunteer organizers, and more. Very cool project from 2008: Twitter Vote Report. Influence decision-makers; impact public policy. They were active and dedicated to making it work and raised 90,000+ friends.
