We've been helping groups for many years with ways to have a little more influence and get a little more impact out of their online and offline events. Create a short video to publicize the event & post it on YouTube to generate some interest. Slideshare is the YouTube of the PowerPoint presentation for those who don't know it yet.)

They were able to use the platform for organizing offline events, finding and collaborating with volunteer organizers, and more. Very cool project from 2008: Twitter Vote Report. A couple of examples: GreenPeace didn’t have everything they needed to conduct an email campaign so they set up a Myspace profile.
