Drivers talked about their dream to somehow run their own app as an alternative to Uber. After one year of planning, New York’s Drivers Cooperative was born in May of 2021 , with a goal to launch an on-demand app owned by workers themselves which customers can use as an alternative to Uber and Lyft for hailing rides.
