According to a recent survey conducted by ComIT.org, 58.6% of Indigenous Canadians polled experienced workplace discrimination. The survey was developed to take a snapshot of the current workplace prejudices and barriers for Canadian Indigenous communities and workers in the IT sector.  The study found that 56.2% of respondents had downplayed their Indigenous backgrounds to quote “fit in better” at work, and 52.6% reported doing so to get a job. Of those polled, 62.4% noted that they have experienced biases when applying for jobs because they are Indigenous. Furthermore, 61.6% of Indigenous Canadians surveyed, perceive that they are less likely to be promoted based on their Indigenous background.
