According to a recent study conducted by Robert Half, more than 4 in 10 Canadian workers plan to change jobs by the end of 2023. The survey of 1140 Canadian workers found that 41% are either looking or planning to look for a new job by the end of the year.

Workers most likely to make a career move are:

  • Gen Zers (64 percent)
  • Marketing and creative professionals (51 percent)
  • Working parents (51 percent)
  • Employees who have been with their company for 2-4 years (56 percent)

Canadian workers in search of new employment opportunities are motivated by:

  • A higher salary (55 percent)
  • Better benefits and perks (28 percent)
  • Remote work options (26 percent)

During the application and interviewing period, workers are most likely to lose interest due to:

  • Poor communication and follow-up from the hiring manager (56 percent)
  • Excessive — or more than three — rounds of interviews (46 percent)
  • Delayed decision-making/lengthy timeline (38 percent)
