A recent survey conducted by D2L explores the generational impact of AI on the workforce. D2L surveyed 3000 employees to gain insights into their use of AI and interest in professional development courses. The research sheds light on the perceptions of workers and highlights the current skills gaps that need to be addressed. More than half of Generation Z workers indicated that they are worried about being replaced within the next year by a person with better AI skills, compared to only a third of Generation X workers sharing those same sentiments. Nearly 40% of survey respondents indicated that their employers are not prioritizing AI-centric professional development opportunities. Younger workers indicated that they are more likely to take multiple professional development courses over the next year. Generative AI will continue to impact the workforce across all sectors, and AI-centric professional development opportunities for employees will be paramount for their success.
