How To Write A Great Ticket Receipt For Your Nonprofit Fundraising Event

When it comes to running an event for your nonprofit, one of the essential steps you need to do is set up event ticketing so you can easily sell tickets online.

The ticket-buying process is the first impression your attendees have of your nonprofit’s fundraising event before they even walk through the door.

So, you’ll want to ensure they have the best ticket-purchase experience possible!

One of the best ways to enhance your attendee’s experience is by crafting a great event ticket receipt. When someone purchases a ticket, there are typically two types of email receipts that automatically get sent out:

  • The ticket order receipt, which functions as the entire purchase confirmation.
  • The ticket holder receipt, which is the email to individual, which contains the ticket or information on how to access the ticket.

When writing an automatic ticket receipt for your nonprofit, you should include:

  • Personalization using merge tags, which automatically pull the purchaser’s name, organization info, and order info into the receipt.
  • A sincere thank your supporter for participating in your event.
  • Provide event details, instructions, and any essentials they need to participate. Ie: date, time, location.
  • Explain how their ticket purchase is making an impact.
  • Explain what they’ll be receiving from their ticket purchase.
  • Include language that gets attendees excited for your event.
  • Your nonprofit’s EIN/tax id
  • Contact information including email, phone, and mailing address.
  • Required statements by the IRS that will make your receipt up to tax-deductible standards, if applicable. For example, “Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. No goods or services were given in exchange for this gift.

To help you write the best automatic ticket receipt for your nonprofit fundraising event, I’ve compiled a few great ticket receipt examples and a template you can customize for your own receipt:
