Finding a balance between work and wellness is crucial in a fast-paced world. The 2024 ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk helps people in communities across Canada get active where they live, learn, work and play. When organizations participate in the Community Challenge, they can be leaders in health, inclusivity, and community spirit.

About the Community Challenge

The Community Challenge is a national physical activity and sport initiative that encourages everyone in Canada to get active throughout June in search of Canada’s Most Active Community, which will be awarded $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives. In addition to the national winner, one community in each of the remaining 12 provinces and territories will receive between $7,500 and $15,000.

Register your organization today!

Join the movement towards a more active Canada by registering your organization for the Community Challenge on the ParticipACTION website. Once registered, you will be able to track your organization’s June physical activity initiatives. The more activities and participants tracked, the higher your community’s chances of being named Canada’s Most Active Community!

What’s in it for your organization?

When your organization engages in the Community Challenge, it helps create a healthier work environment that fosters an active lifestyle. Below are some other ways your organization can benefit from being a physical activity champion this June:

  • Prizing for organizations: Stay tuned for details on organizational prizing, which includes five weekly $750 prizes to support and reward participating organizations’ contributions. This is your chance to shine and potentially win resources to further support wellness initiatives at your organization.
  • Strengthen your community: Use the Community Challenge resources to engage with local community groups to organize events that contribute to the collective goal of becoming Canada’s Most Active Community.
  • Toolkit for success: The Employee and Volunteer Engagement Toolkit is your starter pack to engaging your organization in the challenge. It has useful resources, including an email template, editable event poster, activity idea list and e-signature, to share with your organization.

Celebrate National Health and Fitness Day

The Community Challenge kicks off on Saturday, June 1, which is also National Health and Fitness Day. This nationwide celebration focuses on making physical activity inclusive and accessible for everyone, regardless of age, ability, gender, or background.

The Community Challenge is more than a competition; it helps create a sense of belonging within one’s community by facilitating low-barrier sport and recreational opportunities. Through the Community Challenge, you can build a culture of wellness and inclusivity within your organization and help those around you grow physically, emotionally, and socially.

Let’s rally together!

Together we can make a positive impact on Canada’s health landscape by mobilizing organizations this June. By joining the Community Challenge, you are showcasing your commitment to creating vibrant, healthy spaces that encourage active living.
