CanadaHelps released the How Digital Are Canadian Charities Now Report, which delves into data from the Digital Skills Survey. In August 2023, CanadaHelps surveyed 1470 Canadian charities to gain insights into the state of charities’ skill sets and resources available to leverage digital technologies. According to the study, close to 60% of small charities (10 or fewer staff) note that skill sets are limited and organizations lack strategies to fully adopt digital technologies. There are however organizations considered early adopters, that are leveraging AI or machine learning in their organization to explore how to leverage it effectively. CanadaHelps found that a lack of funding is leading organizations to perceive that they are not able to invest in software or infrastructure, and survey participants indicated that they do not believe that funders would be interested in contributing to the cost of digital transformation.
