When the pandemic first hit, my stepdaughter, Ali, had to make a video. Ali was expected to make a training video from home on how to extract a bone marrow sample — without an examining room, without equipment, and most especially without an animal. It’s a funny video thanks to the props and a good on-the-fly solution.

When in-person school was no longer possible, Fairfax County Public Schools, in Northern Virginia, launched virtual school for its 189,000 students. Others who were able to log in experienced poor audio and frozen video. Troubles began immediately , with teachers and students having problems logging in to the online school system.
