Jason

Beth, I enjoyed your post on the screencasting primer, and esp. on how it pertains to non-profits, and I think I can offer you another alternative above and beyond Jing: freescreencast.com.

Not only is the software to record screencasts free, but you can upload and share your screencasts. Hosting of the screencasts is free and publishing them via the screencast software is a one click operation. Once you've uploaed, you can embed them into your website or blog for free. This is a major deal for sites or blogs that are limited in bandwidth or storage: freescreencast.com takes care of the hosting.

If you don't want to host, the software will also just save the screencast in .FLV format for you.

Inaudible Nonsense

I can't say this enough, as a Deaf (hard of hearing) adult: give your screencasts captions. Accessibility is the next big frontier for online video. The tools are coming into place from Adobe, Apple, and others: now we have to use them.

Inaudible Nonsense: I agree. The technology is there. We're working on an intuitive interface to add captions.
