Look at who they’ve funded in the past by reviewing their IRS Form 990 (you can find these for free on www.Candid.org , formerly GuideStar.org) – this is always a revealing place to start. Also, don’t forget to review the funder’s grant guidelines , eligibility criteria, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) if they have a website.
