The Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) is seeking to learn how foundations across Canada approach participatory grantmaking processes. They are seeking to understand the variety of participatory approaches being used, the benefits and challenges of these approaches, and how they are evaluated. Findings will contribute to the development of the FFBC’s own grantmaking process, and will be shared with the broader philanthropic sector to inform practice. Important information about the survey:

  • The survey should take between 5-10 minutes to complete
  • Responses will be accepted until July 9th
  • This survey is intended to be filled out by foundations that are utilizing participatory grantmaking
  • The survey is anonymous, and will not ask any identifying information
  • The survey is being administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The results will be kept confidential, and will only be available to two OTF staff members in the Learning & Evaluation department, as well as FFBC’s lead researcher. Survey results will be removed from OTF’s records once the research is complete
  • All data shared with additional members of the research team, partners, and the public will be in aggregate form (with the potential exception of anonymous quotations)

If you have questions about the survey, please contact the lead researcher, Rachel Pereira at racheltpereira@gmail.com.
