The paper could also have a morning and evening edition or be weekly. You may also even set up a paper for a specific hashtag or keyword that is of interest to you such as this one. LinkedIn recently announced they were going to drop the minimum age of users in the US to 14.

Newest Changes to Twitter and Facebook

Other than spam from companies trying to sell you goods, how do you think this will impact you and your organization? Twitter recently announced that they were going to start allowing people who follow your account on Twitter, regardless if you follow them back, to send you direct messages on Twitter. It’s also been reported that you cannot have and weblinks in your Twitter direct messages.

A reflection from two talks

The first group was a group of 32 professionals who work or volunteer for nonprofit organizations through the Foundation Center located at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. In the past week I’ve given two talks to two different groups on the same subject – social media and fundraising. The second group was a group of 18 graduate students in a Nonprofit Communications course at Point Park University.

Pinterest is a social media pinboard now used by more than 10 million people per month. If you’re interested in the demographics, more women than men have started use it. Well, Pinterest has a pinboard with lots of examples including using it with blogging, education, YouTube, and many more.

Timelines, they are a-changing

If you have a Facebook page for your organization be prepared for a change on March 30, 2012. Facebook is changing all pages over to it’s timeline format. What does that mean for you? Well, since there is a change in layout, you’ll want to make sure you have branding and graphics correctly sized and ready for the change. You can opt in to the changes to see what your page will look like. You’re going to need to have a cover photo.

Jumo will allow both individuals and organizations to have pages on the site. There is a new social media tool coming out that aims to connect individuals with charities. It is called Jumo. Jumo is the brainchild of a co-founder of Facebook and mybarackobama.com alum Chris Hughes. His goal is to connect individuals with the social changes that interest them the most. They expect to go live in the Fall but are accepting email addresses for folks who are interested in learning more.

Toobla, new tool to check out!

Frequent users of the social web can have their content automatically sent to Toobla so that anything they bookmark or favorite while they find content online ends up on Toobla, thereby helping them to better organize and never forget where to find their favorite content online.&#. Yesterday I met Jake and Brian from Toobla. Toobla is a brand new social bookmarking tool and I was very impressed!
