Conferencing Virtually with Libraries in Iowa

Tech Soup Blog

Back in January of 2008, a network of rural libraries decided to host an online conference to provide an opportunity for library staff and trustees to attend continuing education sessions in an online format, helping to reduce the strain on staffing and budgets. You don't have to work for a library to benefit from their experience. All the handouts and slides were distributed electronically, so paper and toner were not wasted.

Rethinking Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations

Tech Soup Blog

One of my favorite pieces of advice is to remember that your economy of language is incredibly important when creating your slides. When creating your slides, you want your words to be complementary to your verbal presentation, not identical. You may notice that each slide has just enough information to arouse curiosity , and that the slides are largely dependent on what the speaker would be saying.
