Who they are:

MOVE Inclusive Dance is an inclusive dance studio that empowers individuals of all ability levels to learn life skills through dance.  They use the power of movement and music to transform the lives of their students while creating an inviting and nurturing community for all. Founded in 2018, they’ve grown from being a small summer camp to a sustainable, year-round program that serves individuals across the United States.

What they did:

MOVE Inclusive Dance Studio converted their 5K fun run into a peer-to-peer event.

MOVE Inclusive Dance Studio introduced a peer-to-peer component to their 5K Fun Run/Walk to give supporters multiple ways to get involved. Their peer-to-peer site is well-branded and provides clear instructions for how supporters can get involved: create a team, join a team, or just simply attend the walk as an attendee without creating a peer-to-peer fundraising page.  Also, they provide a link to fundraising resources, an FAQ page to help participants learn about what to expect on the day of the event, and embedded videos to educate supporters about their mission.

Not only did they do a fantastic job converting their 5K Fun Run/Walk into a peer-to-peer event, but they took it a step further by pairing this peer-to-peer event with an auction.  To draw attention to their auction, they promoted top auction items on the home page of their peer-to-peer site with scrolling images and a clear link to their auction page.

It’s really important to make sure your event sites are easy to navigate and have clear instructions for supporters, especially when it comes to educating folks on web- and app-based bidding.  Not only do Qgiv clients have access to unlimited support and training, but they also have access to a robust help desk that houses hundreds of self-serve how-to articles, videos, and quick -start guides for staff and supporters. MOVE Inclusive Dance added some of the Qgiv Help Desk Videos that were created by the Qgiv team to their auction FAQ page to make it easy to get started!

One more thing to note is they also included a link back to the peer-to-peer site on their auction page for easy navigation.

What you can do:

If your nonprofit has been hosting an event that could be converted into a peer-to-peer fundraiser, this is something you should investigate! Peer-to-peer events are a great way to engage your community while recruiting others to fundraise on your behalf. When you have a successful event, it doesn’t hurt to think about it critically and see where there are more opportunities to create various streams of revenue with the campaign, including adding an auction component. Online auctions are a great way to engage folks that may not be able to attend an in-person event since supporters can bid from anywhere.
