Happy New Year! Two Free Books! And Watermelon!

Museum 2.0

I published The Participatory Museum in March (with help from many of you!) Thank you so much for hosting me, picking me up at airports, taking me to karaoke bars, showing me secret parts of your museums, helping me find vegetarian food, and sharing your ideas, dreams, and schemes for the future. This year's video tells the story of The Participatory Museum 's sequel and exposes some deadly secrets we uncovered this year in the worlds' museums (Denmark! Milwaukee!)

Wandering Down the "Don't Touch" Line

Museum 2.0

We do have friendly gallery hosts, but not every hour of the day. This is only going to become a bigger issue for us as we invite in new audiences and incorporate more participatory experiences throughout the museum. The Milwaukee Art Museum has a video explaining do's and don'ts of the museum for children. For example, in the woodworking show referenced above, we ended up giving our gallery hosts white gloves so they could open drawers and doors for visitors.
