Recycling is such a complex topic, but basically it involves collecting and processing used materials to recover raw materials, which can then be used in the creation of new products. For instance, in the case of electronics recycling, lots of the plastics and other trace materials are lost in the complex shredding and smelting process that end-of-life electronics recycling entails. As a result, it is only done on an industrial level in a few dozen countries.

South Korea also has a developed electronics recycling system that now recovers and properly processes over 75 percent of discarded electronics. They are developing an industrial capacity, for instance, with companies like Trishyiraya Recycling in Southern India.
