Yesterday was the fourth Giving Tuesday , a global day of community-driven philanthropy. Global Giving did a creative campaign to encourage people to share why they give. Thank you Henry Timms, Aaron Sherinian, and the many others around the world who have made Giving Tuesday and the notion of giving back a global event.

First, no trains, buses, or planes moved to or from New York City. We turned on CNN and watched together as scenes from New Jersey and New York flashed across the screen. This puts New York City’s economic disparity on par with places like Sierra Leone or Namibia. I wanted to get them to safety.
