The Revenue Act of 1917 created the individual income tax deduction for charitable gifts during WW1 when tax rates were rising. The first community foundation was established in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1914. Revenue Act of 1909 created a Federal Tax Exemption for charitable organizations’ revenue.

When I moved across the country, a friend gave me a gift of a National Parks passport. The Winking Lizard Tavern is an Ohio-based chain of thirteen restaurants that puts on a yearly “world beer tour,” this year featuring over 150 international beers. In the years I have owned this passport, I have visited several national parks.
