KizunaCranes.com was an engaging site designed to raise funds for the Japan earthquake relief efforts. If they offer gift registries, they could add charitable gift options with our API. They could start a loyalty program where they reward customers with gift cards redeemed on their own website. Q: Everybody loves lists.

They are also known as perks or gifts, and are used as incentives to motivate people to support a campaign. In a nutshell, donors that received a gift, felt selfish, which in turn reduced the motivation for giving. But studies have shown that rewards for donations may actually reduce giving.

Had great chat with Samin Nosrat for the Big Vision Podcast about her work with Bakesale for Japan and Eating for Education. Painted gift wrap outside in sunshine!! As part of the Omidyar Network's grant to Kiva, all donations through June 30th will be matched dollar for dollar. Very inspiring woman. I'll post the interview soon.

For example, they’re seeing the pictures of what’s going on in Japan – it’s on their mind all the time. Did they designate the gift?

I told her that I was going to send her a little gift for her birthday, and she said, "No, no, no, no. I have them in Japan, and I have them in Germany. We came armed with like 30 or 40 little gifts and goodies. She said, "You know, Laura, I think that birthdays aren't any fun, and I don't like them. Don't send me anything.
