Jeremy Price offered a comment on my last blog post with a link to an excellent article by Lee Shulman on the uses and abuses of taxonomies in educational theory. As she puts it: Taxonomies exist to classify and to clarify, but they also serve to guide and to goad. … So here’s a reenvisioning of this hierarchy as a taxonomy.

The report also shares some traffic data for the popular tagging sites, Flickr and Delicious. taxonomies.??? Hmm.how is a tag thesaurus different a taxonomy? The reports suggests that tagging is poised to go mainstream because of more and more sites, like Google and Yahoo, make it easier to tag. Those patterns are called ???folksonomies???

Nptech resources can be found on delicious , flickr , slideshare , and Twitter. The nonprofit technology community is a robust knowledge sharing network widely dispersed across many blogs, tweets, discussion boards, Facebook walls, etc. That can make it difficult to navigate. Peter Campbell leveraged RSS to pull the tagged items into nptech.
