10 Fun and Totally Random Resources for Nonprofits
[tweetmeme] Over the years I have stumbled across countless Internet gems, but the 10 below are those that I regularly and repeatedly return to. These resources are invaluable when looking for quality content to utilize and share on social media sites. If you have any favorites that you would like to share, please add them in a comment below. 1. Worldometers: Provides world statistics updated in real-time. tweeting powerful stats is guaranteed to get your organization ReTweeted!
2. BrainyQuote: A directory of quotes by famous people. Inspirational quotes are also ReTweeted often. They get lots of Thumbs Up on Facebook too.
3. Google Internet Stats: A collection of economic and media trends and stats. Very useful to social media practitioners and bloggers.
4. IconsPedia: A great source for free icons to use on your website, blog, Facebook Page, in your e-mail newsletter, etc.
5. 4096 Color Wheel: A handy little tool when designing a YouTube channel, Twitter profile, MySpace page, etc.
6. Creative Commons on Flickr: A great source for images for your organization’s website, blog, e-newsletter, social networking profiles, etc.
7. oneforty: A gallery of over 2,500 (and counting) Twitter Apps.
8. National Priorities Project: They offer three unique web-based tools that nonprofits can use to help educate the masses about the U.S. budget, taxes, and spending: Income Tax Chart, Cost Of War.com and budget charts. A similar project with a mysterious source is the USDebtClock.org.
9. Alexa Top Sites: This website illuminates what sites are the most popular in the world today. In addition to the list of global top sites, you can also view top sites by country.
10. Internet Archive: Wayback Machine: This site is always good for a chuckle. Simply plug in your organization’s website URL and you can seen cached versions of your site going back to 1996. My career in Internet activism goes to back to 2000 when I launched eActivist.org (View 2002 cached version). Look familiar to anyone?

Heather I just stumbled upon a great resource for nonprofits I wanted to share with you and your readers, it’s http://www.changemakers.com. The site is host to a number of contests sponsored by corporations for all sorts of nonprofits and charities. You can enter the contests yourself or nominate an organization you think should be entered. It doesn’t cost anything and some of the contests have really nice awards in the form of cash or services.

Also http://twitdom.com/ is really great for finding some neat twitter apps like oneforty.

Another great resource not mentioned is http://www.famousquotes.com … We support many non-profit and charitable organizations such as Lewa and Habitat for Humanity. Plus we are very active on Twitter, FB and Pinterest. This was such a wonderful article! Keep it up!
