Subjects to Change is an unusual museum program in that it explicitly focuses on empowering teens as community leaders.

These apps encourage young people to get involved in civic and political issues. Our Time (Facebook) is a nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment through the voting process. You can also create a special reading list, locate books in your local library, and share what you're reading with friends over social media.

One of the nonprofits that inspires me locally here in Santa Cruz is a youth empowerment and food justice organization called "Food, What!?" FoodWhat's staff and teens have taught me a lot about what it really means to be relevant to people who are often overlooked or ignored. Doron doesn’t work with A students or B students.

The city's OpenData goals are to improve city services for residents and businesses, produce jobs, enhance economic opportunities, and increase resident engagement and empowerment. Bedsider was started as support network operated by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.
