Cyberchondriacs

Cyberchondriacs are people who research health information online. The number of people searching online continues to grow – 17% of people looked online at least 10 times int he past month for health information (source). More than half share information they found online with their doctors.

However the people with chronic health conditions are the ones less likely to have internet access and thus can’t research information. Working in the disabilities community we see this firsthand. However using social media directed towards cell phones can be a way around it. Do you send out text messages or use other tools such as Twitter or Facebook for consumers and families with cell phones? Is your website and your social media tools optimized for people who use mobile tools? Food for thought…
