Social Enterprise: Black Pearls from Nukuoro Atoll

Beneblog: Technology Meets Society

I found out that there is a hierarchy of remote islands. There are the big main islands, which are reasonably remote, like Pohnpei or Weno on Chuuk (my next stop). These islands have international air service like the Island Hopper I talked about in an earlier post. Then, there are the islands you can get to by small boat that are less than two hours from the mainland.

The Nonprofit Twitter Pack: Are you listed?

Beth's Blog: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media

Flickr photo by Beth. A few weeks ago I was doing a workshop and demoing some of the tools of social media. I took the above photo with my camera phone and uploaded to flickr. When I got to showing Twitter, I was met with the usual skepticism. So, I twittered about it as part of the demo and asked my network to leave some comments on the flickr photo.

Transparency, Social Media, and Dealing with Criticism

Beth's Blog: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media

Flickr Photo from Wokka. Almost as a model of how to deal with negative comments to a post , Jeremiah Owyang has invited his critic, David Charback, to write a guest post. The criticism was that Owyang's advice was not sophisticated enough. Charback's witty post describes a fictional (but ripped from the headlines) situation of a corporate blogger who has to address a customer's negative, vocal, but accurate criticism on the customer's blog.
