"Oh, a link to a map of legal drinking ages around the world , eh? " (And then it took me 5 minutes to find a map of risky drinking patterns.

The New York Times continues to produce great examples of interactive maps. We have a thing for maps, it's true. IdealistNews.org aims to be the Digg , er, Reddit of social news sites, while Academic Earth wants to be the Hulu of education. Read more posts on our blog. Here's one visualizing the recession.

Many of us are familiar with the term " Social Graph " defined as the global mapping of everybody and how they're related. But, what I can't easily do for a specific blog post is see who is referring to the article in other places on the social web, like Twitter, Friendfeed, Digg, and the like.

Chris talks about the importance of mapping your social media strategy and identifying a key metric or two for each strategy that tells you whether you've been successful. He gives a great list of what goes into the map. Chris Brogan has also written about the Digg effect. And the fact that Metrics alone are meaningless.
