It isn't often that you can't wait to keep reading a book about genocide, but that is how it was while I was reading Not On Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond by Don Cheadle and John Prendergast. Keep It Sound 4. As strange as it sounds, it can even be a "beach read"--(that's where I read it!)

It sounds like she might want to create a book out of it. I donated to a Relief International health clinic in the Zam Zam refugee camp in Darfur that trains indigenous doctors, midwives, and community health workers. Stories can be posted in the 29-Day Giving Challenge social network's forum, or emailed to story@29gifts.org.

In-world speakers from nonprofits who spoke about their work included Evonne Heyning from Camp Darfur, Barry Joseph from Global Kids , Lori Bell from the Library Alliance , and Marc Sirkin from LLS. Also, we should ask people not to take photos or chat during the presentations as the sound of cameras snapping made the audio hard to hear.

The first thing I suggest is to be genuine -- interview people who are affected by the work your organization does, record actions you are taking to solve problems in your community, ask YouTube users to sound off on why your issues are important. There are some great examples of nonprofits that are doing an excellent job with online video.

We also have a student division: STAND , which has more than 850 chapters around the world, and the students in those chapters actively organize and mobilize their communities and schools to pass legislation, to fundraise, and to really make more noise about genocide in Darfur and genocide in general. That knowledge keeps me going.
