22 Must-Circle Nonprofits on Google+

As a follow-up to Google+ Best Practices for Nonprofits and 22 Must-Circle Nonprofit Bloggers and Resources on Google+, below are 22 nonprofits that are regularly using Google+ effectively to engage and inspire the Google+ community. As traffic continues to grow,  new tools and functionality are added almost daily. Google+ is definitely a work in progress. Most nonprofits are still experimenting to discover their Google+ voice and hone in on a frequency of publishing content to the stream that makes Google+ both viable long-term and worth the time spent exploring Google+.

To me, the Google+ Stream  feels like a mixture of Twitter and Facebook. Like Twitter, you have to post or share content frequently to get exposure in the feed since there is no Edgerank-like algorithm to filter out (boring) posts/tweets. However, like Facebook, simply posting a link without a personal statement doesn’t seem to result in much activity on Google+ and to post multiple times per day on Google+ with well-thought out personal statements could become time-consuming. So, if Google+ wants to keep us hooked long-term, I do think Google+ is going to have to come up with a new functionality or tool that is completely unique and very simple and easy-to-use (think Pinterest).  That said, as YouTube and other Google Products become more deeply integrated into Google+, the hook could evolve simply out of necessity and ease of using multiple Google Products in one place.
