The women that we are servicing in Congo, where, if they are lucky, they get $0.20 We work in countries like Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, among others. We started from, in 1993, helping 33 women, to 16 years down the road, we have impacted 172,000 women directly and distributed $79 million to them.

The most powerful impact we found was actually in the women's leadership and influence locally. One example of the incredible change that education can bring to a community is Malaika , a grassroots nonprofit that educates and empowers girls and communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo through a school, a community center, a clean water program, technical classes and and organic farm. It was a very impactful experience.

Museums are creating “walled gardens,” and it hurts online visibility and impact. For example, the Holocaust Museum has a great Flash exhibition of Angelina Jolie’s trip to the Congo.
