Itunes/Quicktime comes native with MacOS, and Windows Media Player for Windows. In terms of video editing, again, the proprietary programs have somewhat of a leg up on the open source, although a recent entry into the field may well change that (see below). The other realm of stuff that I know some about is video.

To make matters worse, my five year-old cable modem just couldn't handle recent changes to Comcast's network that allow for more bandwidth. I rendered ten different versions (6 in SWF with different audio sampling and video frame rates and sizes) and 2 in Quicktime and 2 in WMF.)

Ickes, to post the Fund's video "Vote for Change." You can watch it with Quicktime or Windows Media here , or watch it on YouTube. It is pretty amazing how viral videos have become an integral part of outreach for political and social change organizations. I think you can see where this is going.
