Greetings from Cusco, Peru! I am honored to be working with Wake International on their Tech2Empower Program in Cusco, Peru. The goal is change cultural norms that tell women to be humble and not to speak out – and it ultimately holds them back. The program teaches women how to build confidence with self-promotion.

My mom was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, and my dad was born and raised in Peru. Growing up, I visited Peru a couple of times, and in college, I did an exchange program there and stayed with my grandparents for a whole semester. And lastly, be willing to change your behavior when you learn something is wrong. .

I know that might seem old fashioned, but being a trainer and facilitator and in the room with social change leaders is what inspires and energizes me. Resilience is what allows you to recover from change or hardship, whether in the workplace or life in general. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity.

We also looked at a campaign strategy developed by the office in Peru called Nofilter and looked at ways to incorporate some of the takeaways from the Networked Nonprofit workshop. Then afterwards we repeated the poll and they saw how the energy level changed. We did this for 5 minutes.
