RBC released a report highlighting the insufficient utilization of immigrants’ skills to drive workforce growth. As Canada leads the G7 in attracting immigrants the opportunities are endless in regard to a strong workforce. However, barriers to employment are landing immigrants in jobs that are underpaying for their educational background and skillset. The primary issue, the report suggests, is there is poor recognition of foreign credentials which stands as an obstacle for immigrants who are more than qualified for the jobs that Canada is failing to adequately fill with our current domestic workforce.
