A Powerful YouTube Video Goes A Long Way

A lot goes into making a youtube channel great, and these nonprofits demonstrate that. Their hard work has paid off, with these channels showing just how effective and entertaining nonprofit videos can be.

These channels are great sources of information on their cause and inspiration for your own. We’ve also chosen to include a video from each to really show you what you’re missing. Plus, understanding what makes these channels so good will help you to improve your own!

5. Cancer Research UK

The Cancer Research Youtube channel has 109,601 subscribers, and it is easy to see why.

Cancer Research uses their channel to show supporters and donors exactly where their time and donations are going. This is important as donors like to see that their money is making a difference and it helps them decide to donate again.

They have numerous powerful videos showing what their goals are, and how they are working to achieve them, as well as showing the strides they are making along the way.

Cancer Research also uses its channel to provide important information on cancer prevention. These are often in cartoon form, which is super eye-catching, easy to understand and appeals to a wide audience.

Check out their video below on sunburn, what it is and why it is dangerous, to get a better idea of why their educational videos work (and learn something important).

4. RSA

The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) aims to enrich society by sharing powerful ideas and encouraging people to donate.

Their Youtube channel does just this, posting motivational and inspirational videos similar to what you would expect from a TedTalk.

You’re pretty much guaranteed to learn something watching anyone of the RSA’s wide range of videos. They’re easy to watch and cover everything from politics to being a better person, from understanding algorithms to improving education.

Some of the RSA’s videos include drawing and animation features, check out this quick inspirational video, which won an RSA Student Design award.

3.  Greenpeace

The Greenpeace youtube channel is a bit different to the others on this list. As a nonprofit organisation, Greenpeace is more based around activism, which means their videos and channel often have a different tone to other nonprofits.

Cleverly, Greenpeace includes their logo on each of the video thumbnails. This means their videos are instantly associated with them and has helped them become one of the main faces of environmental activism.

Their videos are powerful and motivational, showing condemning footage of how our planet is being damaged and encouraging footage of people across the world fighting back. Their recent upload, calling for climate justice, is a perfect example of this. It makes you want to fight, and that’s Greenpeace’s goal.

2. RSPCA

We’ve mentioned in our Tips to improve your youtube channel article how well presented the RSPCA Youtube channel is, but we couldn’t resist mentioning again. RSPCA’s thumbnails are well designed, colour-coded to show what series the video is a part of, and using images that make it obvious what (or who) the video is about. This really helps to make their channel more appealing.

Aside from that, the RSPCA makes sure they have content that appeals to a wide range of people. Their videos include compilations of cute animal clips, to information on how to choose a good breeder, and stories of the animal rescues they perform every day.

A lot of the RSPCA videos are also very emotional, which is great as it makes people really understand and connect with their cause. This video about Peggy the Pug shows just how sad the stories of the animals the RSPCA rescue can be but don’t worry, it has a happy ending.

1. Oxfam GB

Oxfam’s Youtube channel and videos all work really well to get people involved with their cause, so whether you’re looking to enjoy some Youtube browsing, or find inspiration for your own channel, Oxfam is a go-to.

The Oxfam headers are changed regularly to raise awareness of different issues and campaigns, but they’re always powerful and eyecatching. Their channel is also full of well made, regularly uploaded videos, which encourages people to subscribe.

Each of the videos on Oxfam’s channel is informative, clear and powerful. They have videos thanking their volunteers and donors, showing they appreciate the work people across the country put into their cause.

Oxfam also posts videos explaining the issues they face and the work they do in simple terms, making them easy to watch and super shareable. This powerful video on the exploitation of garment workers in Vietnam is a great example of Oxfam’s incredible videos.
