We have extended Martus capacity building and technical support to ND-Burma since its inception in 2004. Luckily, the hidden notes escaped detection and she was released.

From there, I ended up going to the Burma-Thai border and working with women refugees who had fled the ethnic cleansing under the Burmese dictatorship. It's a very creative town, very community oriented, and the energy there is very supportive. We have such a large community, our network is over 40,000, who is depending on us.

We witnessed the best and the worst of people, but in the end I am left with a strong sense of community, pride in the people of Cancun for pulling the city up so quickly and the strength to know that I personally can survive just about anything. We did start a group hurricane blog after Wilma, thankfully we have not put it to good use.
