Facebook recently announced a test in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Slovakia, Serbia, Guatemala, and Cambodia. Some of your posts are seen by lots of people, and some of your posts aren’t. But no algorithm is perfect.

We publish their stories, and from that experience, a big impact was that a lot of the women got their stories picked up. The most powerful impact we found was actually in the women's leadership and influence locally. They're coming from Nepal, the Philippines, and Bolivia. It's just accessible.

That's one thing, be aware that every photograph you take and share has a real impact. It is very different to interview sex workers who have been trafficked in Phnom Penh, than to interview women who are doing knitting in Bolivia. It is easily the most difficult of the books that I have done.

I think my favorite example of that is a women's group from the highlands of Bolivia who wrote to us maybe seven or eight years ago. How do you know that you are making a difference or an impact; how do you measure that? For them, that was a measure of change and a measure of impact. BB: How do you know that you are successful?
