The Nonprofit Software Development Summit starts tommorrow and if it weren't school vacation week, I'd be there live blogging it. And, if it wasn't school vacation week, I'd attempt to remote live blog it ... Say what?
That's is when a live blogger - who is not on-site - is monitoring a dedicated IRC channel where someone in the room or at the conference is typing summary notes, monitoring the conference tag in flickr, technorati, and other places and live blogging a summary. I saw this being done during the Global s 2005 by Angelo E who live remote blogging from the Middle East while we were all in London. He did it again at this year's summit in Delhi (I couldn't go, but I stopped by the IRC backchannel). Another technique GV used that greatly enhances remote participation for the remote participants is to have an IRC Advocate in the room who monitors the back channel and makes sure that the remote participant's questions are answered.
Nonetheless, since it is school vacation week, I'll set up a watchword in Technorati on the term "npdev" and try to follow the flow, tag stuff with NpTech. I hope you'll all do the same.
There are so many sessions I'd love to be fly on the wall for -- here's the event schedule.
Oh, expect lighter blogging this week - it's school vacation week.
