I think some of the folks who are listening may have had a vision for something, an idea that they thought would make the world a better place. After that I decided to move back to Portland, because I felt Portland, Oregon was an amazing place to start a vision. They came from Sudan, from Saudi Arabia, from all over, some of the most unheard places of the world. They're coming from Nepal, the Philippines, and Bolivia.

One of their programs is the Reality Tours, where they bring groups of individuals to regions to look at the social justice issues and other pressing issues, that really color the experience and the culture of a place. So our first exchange that we did with Global Exchange was called "Transformative Advocacy in Bolivia." What was really missing and what we could fill through a structured place and space, and that would be Women's Global Green Action Network.

That's one thing, be aware that every photograph you take and share has a real impact. It is very different to interview sex workers who have been trafficked in Phnom Penh, than to interview women who are doing knitting in Bolivia.

I think my favorite example of that is a women's group from the highlands of Bolivia who wrote to us maybe seven or eight years ago. You can see the ripples kind of spreading out, but you don't know whether one ripple caused a tadpole to swim a different direction, you don't know whether a bird flew away because the ripples made it change its mind, you don't know whether a flower that might not have grown in that place now is growing in that place.
