Have a plan to include people who may not be able to access the conference platform. For example, can you live stream the sessions, can you make sure participants joining by phone have a positive audio-only experience? Helpful Pressbook for Google Slides. Describe the visuals on your slide. Preparing for the event.

I stayed the weekend to travel to Toronto, to give a keynote on Monday morning at the My Charity Connects Conference. My slides are above and my reflections are below. There was also a dream team of audio visual techs. When I tell people that they might see themselves in the slide show, there is always nervous giggle.

There were some terrific questions and discussion. I’ve included some resources along with the slides here. For someone with a hectic travel schedule, remote presentations are always welcomed. In the past, I have presented remotely using skype audio and video. We had a very reliable Internet connection.

We used Google Hangout because they found it was more robust for video, audio, and screen sharing in that remote location. Using Google Hangout, you can switch between slides and camera, although when you are in slide mode, you can’t see the remote participants. The Google Hangout was projected on the screen.

While the technology is getting better and better ( here's a good list of options ), putting on a good web conference still requires some preparation and practice. If you have more than a few international participants, especially from developing countries, voice connectivity for the audio portion of the meeting can quickly become a problem.
