So our first exchange that we did with Global Exchange was called "Transformative Advocacy in Bolivia." We brought a group of ten environmental justice lawyers from throughout North America to work in partnership with grassroots women leaders in Bolivia, with the focus on sustainable agriculture and food security issues.

A lot of attention on team, it's probably the hardest thing because you have to keep getting out of your own way. You can just go on there and you can be talking immediately to women in Bolivia, and in Nepal, and drawing strength, courage, and support from them, and vice versa. They're coming from Nepal, the Philippines, and Bolivia.

There are no men in Zimbabwe who are immune to these girls' attention. It is very different to interview sex workers who have been trafficked in Phnom Penh, than to interview women who are doing knitting in Bolivia. Second, when a photo catches the world's attention, it can truly drive action and change."

I think my favorite example of that is a women's group from the highlands of Bolivia who wrote to us maybe seven or eight years ago. We have been seeing an increased attention that women's rights groups have been bringing to this whole question of globalization and migration, and how women workers are being affected by this.
