Everything about the event--from the time slot to the tone of the content to the music played--was designed for that audience. Late night mixers at museums for young adults. Museums are not for specific crowds alone.

I'd love to see a museum offer temporary tattoos instead of stickers at entry. I expected it to be both physically and culturally uncomfortable, something like going to a dentist in a Harley garage. They are the kind of people we can't even get to the museum door, let alone through it. The music was loud and angry.

They were using music, dance, poetry, and storytelling, and they were succeeding. The little girls are part of a culture, the Shona culture in Zimbabwe, as maybe you know, uses poetry. PG: In these different cultures, the women seem to know, in ways that outsiders might not, what can be effective.
