The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) is a national, 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization. All of our materials are free. Our noncommercial educational work focuses on increasing awareness of the danger of home fires and the value of installing home fire sprinkler systems as an effective method to reduce injury and death. This work is important because 85% of US fire deaths are in homes. Those most vulnerable are children, older adults and people with disabilities that make escaping very difficult. I am the Social Media Marketing Specialist for GCFLearnFree.org. We have only recently begun launching our mobile app family. A month ago we launched a Video Dictionary to assist with adult literacy and ESL/ELL: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gcf-vocabulary-videos/id418426036?mt=8# This app has done moderately well with only 800 downloads and is currently only available on the iPhone. We intend to make all of our apps available on Android too.
Our second mobile app that we only launched last Wednesday was our Word 2010 Tutorial App, which is based on the popular tutorials available on our website. In less than a week it has been downloaded more than 1800 times, which we felt was successful: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gcf-word-2010-tutorial/id423375143?mt=8
The Excel 2010 Tutorial app will hopefully launch by early April and then we will continue with PowerPoint and Access after that. Moving forward, we plan to make all of the tutorials that become available on our website also available as a mobile app.
I think the applications that we have published are high quality and provide a significant benefit to the users. Even if we aren’t chosen for your book, I encourage you to download our Word and Excel apps as they can be awfully useful when trying to deal with pesky mail merge or figuring our formulas!
Hello! My nonprofit, Dance to Empower Stronger Health care (DESH), was founded in 2008, back when I was a junior in high school. We’ve since raised over $8,000 for various health care relief efforts in India and have started up a scholarship fund for medical students in India.
Our mission is to increase health care awareness and improve existing health care conditions in rural India and it would be great if you could mention us in your book!

Ucal always believed that youth soccer is a stepping stone to high school soccer and beyond. But there are skills and tools – both physical and mental – that are absolutely vital in preparing them for the next levels of competition. This was a void Ucal always worked hard to fill, and it’s why, starting in Summer 2010, the Breakaway Foundation will continue Ucal’s dream of hosting youth clinics in and around the city of Boston.
But soccer is just the beginning. The Breakaway Foundation will also sponsor health and wellness initiatives, CPR classes, fitness education, and more, all to promote a strong, vibrant community.
