That said, in the Acknowledgments section of Social Media for Social Good: A How-To Guide for Nonprofits , I mentioned and gave credit to the early adopters of Myspace and the Social Web. There were many, many skeptics back then about social media in general and being an early adopter was not easy.

Ivan is one of a small number of nonprofit early adopters in social media and social networks - he has a couple of years of experience under his belt - so his wisdom is priceless. What are their core values that you can tap into to motivate them to adopt healthy or pro-social behaviors? You can create or simulate an experience that can evoke an emotional response from a visitor, as they have done with Camp Darfur. A successful social marketer is someone who really gets to know their audience ???

Our newest human rights project is looking closely at the human rights challenges in Darfur. We are nearing completion of our assessment of Darfur-related NGOs and their qualitative documentation on human rights abuses. Humanity United (founded by Pam Omidyar) funded this work.

The Exploratorium did the solar eclipse, and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum is doing all kinds of programs around Darfur. It seems like the real world museums that are starting to work in Second Life are pursuing the social interaction element of the platform through events.
